Sleep

I had a late (but very fun!) night with some friends yesterday, and I still managed to squeeze in a workout this morning. I was so proud of myself, haha. I was thinking about taking this morning off, but I figured I should probably save an off day for when I really need one.

I’ve been trying to get my sleeping schedule back to ‘normal.’ I’ve always had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, but during the time when I was very active for the last couple of years, I slept great… I mean, nothing would wake me up. I’d fall asleep pretty quickly, and I’d sleep through the alarm clock, phone calls, etc. Then I took a short break from jogging — A few months, mostly due to knee pain, and then it was difficult to get back into the habit. During my break, my sleeping schedule got really screwed up again. It’s so hard for me to fall asleep now, and I wake up several times throughout the night, constantly checking the time. I’m hoping that things will fall back into place now that I’m eating healthy and jogging regularly again. I slept great on Tuesday night, and I woke up with a lot of energy yesterday. Last night I went out, and when I got home I could not fall asleep… It sucked. I had a lot of energy this morning though. I guess it’ll probably take a few more weeks, but I’m hoping it gets easier. Soon.

Having my computer back is definitely not helping much, heh.

Workouts and stuff…

I finally got the new AC adapter for my laptop last night, and I stayed up pretty late playing around with it. I ended up having to reinstall Windows, and I still need to install a lot of updates, as well as my programs and add my music back :P I’ll probably end up doing that tonight. I was able to catch up on a few of my fave YouTube channels. Hooray!

Nothing exciting has been going on. I’ve been doing well with my morning workouts. I haven’t missed a day since I started back up on June 29th, and I’m doing good with my jogging! This morning I really did not want to go to the gym, but when I got there my trainer had an open session since her 6:30 a.m. client canceled, so that worked out well… I probably wouldn’t have pushed myself as hard without her there today. My knee has started to bother me again, but the last two days have been okay. I’ve also been waking up with back pain, but it always feel better after I workout on the Elliptical… So that’s even more motivation to go.

I’ve been trying to eat more spinach with my pre-workout breakfast in the morning (as well as with each meal throughout the day, but especially in the morning), but it’s pretty hard! I just don’t like the taste of organic spinach at 5:00 a.m. :P I usually have a wheat bagel with cheese for breakfast, so if I chew it with that it’s not too horrible.

It’s nice to be thoroughly obsessed with this topic again :)

100 Miles

So I decided to kick start my workout program (again!) by running/jogging/walking 100 miles in July. Wheeee!

I know, I know… I was supposed to do this before in April. But it started raining (I think?), I started a new full-time job… Excuses, excuses!

But I’m going to do it this time!!!

And I have to think about how I’ll reward myself on August 1st. I really want a mountain bike BAD, but I think that’s too extravagant for a month of running :P Maybe I’ll get that on January 1st, heh. I need to decide on some bigger goals to reach by then!

Weekend Fun

I had a very fun weekend :)

On Saturday, I met up with Star at the mall, and we did a little shopping. We caught up on life (even though we text/tweet all the dang time, lol) over a yummy lunch at PF Chang’s before heading to Point Fermin Park in San Pedro for Shakespeare by the Sea. We saw “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” which we both really enjoyed! The play was outdoors (obviously), and it was a bit cold/windy, but we had blankets and a cozy spot on the benches. Thank you again for inviting me Star! We’re gonna have to start planning something else fun ;)

Yesterday I had a REALLY good workout. Despite working out with my trainer pretty regularly, I’ve been seriously slacking with my cardio and “diet.” NOT GOOD. Star and I took some pix together, and I was so disgusted with myself… That usually motivates me to kick ass at the gym, and it sure worked yesterday… I ran and got in some time on the Elliptical. I also got up at 5:30 a.m. this morning and got in an hour of cardio before work, and I plan to do that every weekday morning. I have an hour scheduled with my trainer for Tuesday and Thursday this week as well. I spend 60 minutes with her on Saturday mornings (and 30 minutes on weekdays)… 60 minutes is so exhausting. I usually take a nap after :X Cardio always gives me energy, but strength training is what does me in… So hopefully I’m not too pooped tomorrow, heh.

After my workout, I ran some errands yesterday and then decided to stop at my apartment to turn on the A/C for my cats. I started to install some Windows updates on my laptop when the power adapter caught on fire! I mean, smoke and flames were literally coming out of it. So once again… I’m computerless. WAH! I need to order a new charger, but I’m not in a big hurry. I figure it’ll get me out of the house at night :P I’m going to have AIM and YouTube withdrawals though. I miss my makeup tutorials already, hee!

Last night I also saw “The Hulk” with my gramps. I actually really enjoyed it… I was surprised! He has been bugging me to take him. That old man is hard to please. He had his usual complaints when the movie was over… “That stunk… It was too long… blah blah blah.” Oh well. Still love him.

Okay, that’s all for now! Have a great week :)

Sushi!

I ate sushi for the first time EVER today… And I have to say, it was pretty dang good :) I liked the tuna rolls (???) a lot better than the stuff pictured above though. Whoo hoo, something else to cross off my “Things to Do Before I Die” list, lol. (There really isn’t such a list, but there probably should be. I’m realizing there is a lot of stuff I haven’t done…)

I should be sleeping, because I have an early training session in the morning tomorrow, and then I’m meeting up with Star for shopping and dinner and fun at the beach. Oh, and to gossip of course. Gossiping with Star is quite possibly one of my favorite things to do! Hehe!

Have a great weekend!

New Toy!

I finally caved in and upgraded to the Blackberry Curve. I don’t have it in my eager little hands just yet; the reps at the Verizon Wireless store were incredibly rude. Rude and apparently misinformed. The lady who waited on me told me that I did not qualify for an upgrade but that she could sell me a Curve for $250… She explained it like I was still getting a great deal. Mmhmm. I went home and ordered the Curve off Verizon’s website, and my total - after choosing all my extras and add-ons - was $99. Verizon offers great reception, especially where I live, but I’ve had a lot of problems with their reps… I can never get the same answer from two of their people. Arghgh. Oh well, as long as I don’t have to deal with them on a daily basis, I guess I can’t complain, right? :P

My Palm Treo 700P has gotten lots of love. Having access to my e-mail and everything else I love about the internet, wherever I go, is wonderful. Not so thrilled about the calendaring system on the Treo, so hopefully the Blackberry can beat that. The QWERTY keyboard on the Treo, however, is just perfect… I hope I can get used to the Curve’s keyboard pretty quickly! I had been looking at the Blackberry Pearl (which comes in PINK, haha!), but the keys were so tiny with very little space in between. Blah. I am kind of nervous about the switch, but I’m sure it’ll be fine. I can’t wait to get it!

(And Star, this will totally be a Shopaholix post, I promise! ;)

Happy Friday!

It has been a great week! The days seemed to pass so quickly, and I got some amazing news on Wednesday. “I couldn’t be happier…” ;) I don’t want to post about it publicly, but my close friends and family know. I’ll just say: I have a lot to be happy about, life is good.

My grandpa got back in town last week. Actually, I drove to Vegas on Sunday to pick him up, and I got to spend a little bit of time with my cousin Becky. (She flew down with him, since it would be very difficult for him to fly alone.) We didn’t have a lot of time there, but we were able to check out the Sephora at Planet Hollywood, play some slots, visit the spa at Paris and enjoy good food before I turned around and went home.

It’s nice to have my grandpa home, but I know he’s sad. He really misses my aunt and cousins and my aunt’s dog, hehe. He had a great time with them… I think they spoiled him with attention ;) As I’ve mentioned, he no longer has his license, so he’s trapped at home all day. I feel really bad for him. I’ve been so tired lately, and I haven’t been spending much time with him. I’m going to have to do something with him this weekend for sure. I think he’s planning to stay over tonight, too.

Well, I must get back to work. Even though the rest of this week flew by, I’m really dragging today. I stayed up pretty late cleaning my [teeny tiny] apartment, because my landlord had to get inside today. It wasn’t dirty, but I just wanted it to look extra good, ya know? So I fooled around online and cleaned and listened to music… And cleaned some more. So it took way longer than it should have, and now I’m super sleepy! Nap time as soon as I get home!

Have a great weekend! :)

Hee hee!

Sunday Nights = SUCK

I feel like I didn’t have a very productive weekend! I just felt so lousy. I did manage to make it to Wicked and to a friend’s Wiz-o-Mania birthday party. Out of her entire group, only two people won the lottery (for a total of four seats), but I ended up getting a $45 seat following the lotto. I got to see Erin Mackey again, and she is just too cute! Teal Wicks is really growing on me… That woman can SING! Her “Defying Gravity” was beautiful!

Today I hung out with my mother… We saw “Sex and the City,” and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed. When the show was on HBO, I watched the first two or three seasons, but after awhile it got kinda boring for me. As for the movie, it seemed awfully drawn out. I kept asking my mom if she thought it was long, too… She didn’t. The best part of the whole movie was seeing Annaleigh Ashford (former Broadway Galinda) applying for a job as Carrie’s personal assistant. I squealed when I saw her! She’s such a cutie.

My mom picked up a copy of “Juno” for me today. I saw that movie quite a few times when it was in theatres… It is one of my favorites. My mom hadn’t seen it, and she was pretty amused. “Amy, what are pork swords?” :X Ha. Right now I’m watching “Enchanted” (another one of my faves!). I love that Idina Menzel’s in this movie. And I really love the ending of the movie, too. Very cute.

Okay, that is all I suppose. Nighty :)
